The Baltic Investment Group Bank (BIG) and Eesti Post have taken their partnership one step further: starting from Thursday 12 June you can perform transactions connected with BIG's loan and deposit services in more than 80 post offices around Estonia.
BIG and Eesti Post launched their first pilot project in October 2007, with BIG's services being made available in six post offices in Western Estonia. Kaido Saar, a member of the management board of BIG, says that the project was very successful. "First and foremost we want to be able to reach all of our clients, wherever they are in Estonia, offering them a wide range of bank services, be they related to depositing or signing contracts," he said. "The interest among our clients in being able to sort out their money matters in their home town has been huge, which is why we have worked with Eesti Post to take our partnership even further."
In bigger post offices BIG clients can perform all of the simple transactions they are used to, including depositing money and applying for loans. Among the services on offer to clients is the chance to place their savings in BIG's fixed-term deposit with an annual interest rate of 8% - the highest rate of return of any such deposit in Estonia. In smaller post offices the selection of services is limited to deposits: clients can notify BIG of their wishes via a postal worker and will be contacted on the same day (usually within the hour). As previously, more complicated transactions (amending contracts and so on) can only be performed via BIG's Internet Service or at bank branches.
