The second stage of BIGBANK Kuldliiga on Tuesday, 1 June, at the stadium of the University of Tartu was disturbed by strong rain, wherefore the results of the athletes were modest.
In the men's shot put, the winner was Latvian Maris Urtans with the result of 20.02, followed by Taavi Peetre with 19.44. Discus throw was won by Märt Israel, who was the only to throw over 60 meters (60.45), Aleksander Tammer was second with 58.92. The 100 meters run was won by the Bahrein sprinter Rodney Green with the time 10.63. Richard Pulst was second (10.88) and Rasmus Rooks the third (10.98).
The traditional main event of the 46th Gustav Sule memorial competition - men's javelin throw - was won by Latvian Ainars Kovals with the result of 75.75, the second was Eriks Rags (74.74) and the third Tanel Laanmäe (69.91). The winner of the 2005 Helsinki world championship, Andrus Värnik, was the fourth (69.04).
Anna Iljuštšenko, who recently renewed the Estonian outdoor record in women's high jump, achieved a result of only 1.86 meters. The winners of the 100 meters run, who ran against a headwind of 1.6 m/s, were Latvians Sandra Kruma (12.01) and Jekaterina Cekele (12.07), Alexandra Sorokina (12.20) was the third.
Last year BIGBANK concluded a contract with MTÜ Sportiürituste Korraldamise Klubi, according to which the bank will support the most reputable athletics series in the Baltics, the BIGBANK Kuldliiga, with a total of three million kroons during the next four years.

The III stage of the BIGBANK Kuldliiga will take place on 25 June at Kohila, Rapla County.
