The third result of the European season shot put ranking was achieved at the BIGBANK Gold League

At the II winter stage of the BIGBANK Gold League, which took place on Saturday, 30 January, at the Tartu University Sports Hall, the winner of shot put was Latvian Maris Urtans with the third result of the European season ranking.

The winning result 20.43 ensured Urtans also admittance to the World Indoor Championships. Second place was achieved by Raigo Toompuu with 18.80.

In the strong competition, Sirkka-Liisa Kivine, who made her first start of the season in women's long jump, had to settle with the third place with the result 6.36. Second place was achieved with the same result by Latvian Lauma Griva. The winner of long jump was Russian Tatyana Voykina with the result 6.37.

The II stage of the ETK heptathlon included three events: 60 metres hurdles, high jump and 1000 metres run. After six events (60 metres, long jump, shot put, 60 metres hurdles, high jump, 1000 metre run), the general leader is Andres Raja with 5160 points (7.04; 7.15; 15.28; 7.96; 2.06; 2:48.27). The second place is held by Mikk Pahapill with 5054 points (7.11; 7.14; 15.73; 8.18; 2.09; 2:55,97) and the third by Kaarel Jõeväli with 4624 points (7.20; 6.92; 12.73; 8.36; 1.98; 2:57.70). Andres Raja achieved a strong personal record in high jump, which is one centimetre better than Erki Nool's record. The last stage will include pole vault.

The next BIGBANK Gold League will take place on 10 February in Tallinn, at the Lasnamäe Sports Hall.
