On Sunday, 11 October, the charity dog show BIG Match Show raised 38,819 kroons for the Valga and Viljandi animal shelters.
This year the profits of the BIG Match Show go to the Valga and Viljandi animal shelters in order to improve the living conditions of homeless animals. The Valga shelter is in desperate need of new disinfecting lamps, which help to keep different bacteria and germs away from the room, and the Viljandi shelter plans to do tiling work in the quarters of the animals. In previous years the BIG Match Show has donated its profits to the Pärnu, Tartu, Võru and Haapsalu shelters for homeless animals.
The BIG Match Show was visited by almost 1000 people and 204 dogs took place in the show, of whom the title of the general winner was given to a mixed-bred dog named Jasper who belongs to Maria Tengi. Both pure-bred and mixed-bred dogs took part in the show and competed according to age and size - puppies, adults and seniors of above or below knee height. The judges - Ago Vimm from the Newfoundland Club of Estonia, Rein Kikerpill and Tarmo Tali from the Dog Sports Club Koerus - evaluated both the appearance and behavior of the dogs.
The BIG Match Show, which took place already for the fifth time this year(and therefore celebrated a small jubilee), is the largest annual charity dog show in Estonia, the aim of which is to draw attention to the issue of homeless animals and the possibilities of solving this problem, and to support the shelters for homeless animals. The event is organised by BIGBANK AS in cooperation with the Association of Estonian Dog Owners.
