Starting from Sunday (13 September), all dog owners are welcome to register their pets for participation in the charity dog show BIG Match Show 2009, which will take place on 11 October at Tallinn, and the profits of what shall be donated this year to the members of the Varjupaikade MTÜ (a non-profit organisation of animal shelters) - the Valga and Viljandi animal shelters.
Both pure-bred and mixed-bred dogs are welcomed to take part in the BIG Match Show, which will take place at the Kristiine Sports Hall on 11 October at 12.00 PM, where the dogs shall compete according to age and size - puppies, adults and seniors of above or below knee height. In addition there will be different dog-related demonstration performances.
In order to take part in the dog show, it is possible to preregister oneself at the webpage www.bigmatchshow.ee until 9 October. For preregistered dogs, the participation fee is 75 kroons and for those who register on the spot the fee is 100 kroons. On the spot, the entry fee for visitors is 25 kroons and a family ticket costs 50 kroons. Entry for pensioners and children up to the age of 12 is free.
This year, all of the profits of the BIG Match Show are donated to the Valga and Viljandi animal shelters. The Valga shelter is in desparate need of new disinfecting lamps, which help to keep different bacteria and germs away from the room, and the Viljandi shelter plans to do tiling work in the quarters of the animals.
Las year about 800 people visited the BIG Match Show, and 163 dogs took part in the show, of whom the title of the general winner was given a dog named Nuki from the Pärnu animal shelter. Last year the profits of the event were donated to the Rakvere and Kohtla-Järve animal shelters. In previous years the BIG Match Show has donated its profits to the Pärnu, Tartu, Võru and Haapsalu shelters for homeless dogs.
The BIG Match Show, which will be taking place already for the fifth time this year, is the largest annual charity dog show in Estonia, the aim of which is to draw attention to the issue of homeless animals and the possibilities of solving this problem, and to support the shelters for homeless animals. The organiser of the event is BIGBANK AS in cooperation with the Association of Estonian Dog Owners.
