150 Members of Large Families skated for free in Tallinn

On Saturday 9 May 2009, 150 members of large families came together to skate for free. The family day for large families organised by BIGBANK and the Union of Large Families of Estonia gave the large families the possibility of skating free of charge at the Premia ice arena in Tallinn in the honor of Mother's Day

Large families from all over Estonia came. There were representatives from Valga, Pärnu, Harju, Rapla and Ida-Virumaa counties. The largest family was a family from Ida-Virumaa with 10 members.

According to the Project Manager of the Family Day, Kristi Berggeren, the organisers expected families from all corners of Estonia to the ice arena. "The aim of this event is to remember the large families of Estonia before Mothers Day and offer them a fun possibility of spending time together," said Berggren.

Besides skating together, the large families could also take part in the entertainment program meant for both children and adults.

The Chairman of the Board of the Union of Large Families of Estonia, Kalmer Hütt, noted that large families need such events very much, because the financial situation of many families does not enable them to go and visit the ice arena with the whole family on their own. "It is very welcome, that even during the economic recession there are entrepreneurs, who help the weaker links of the society", Hütt said.

The annual family day for large families took place already for the fifth time. Last year large families were invited to different water parks.
