AS Balti Investeeringute Grupp (BIG) earned, on the basis of data audited within the entire consolidation group, 20.8 million kroons of profit in 2003, which is a 145.6% increase from the results of 2002 - 8.5 million kroons. More than 4 million kroons in profit resulted from the sale of group shares in AS Hiiu Turvas, and over 2 million kroons came from operations in Latvia.
According to Targo Raus, Chairman of the Board of BIG, the good results can be explained by finding the right market niche and creating a simple financing possibility for the customer. "Our advantages are speed of receiving loans and availability. We have centered on medium and smaller loan amounts and we are able to operate successfully and profitably in this niche," Raus commented.
BIG also continues to actively expand its sales network. In 2003, the first representation in Latvia outside Riga was opened in Liepaja; in the beginning of 2004, new offices were opened in Tallinn Lasnamäe Centrum and ÿlemiste Center. In summer, BIG will open its representation in Narva.
The consolidation group issued a total of 154.9 million kroons in loans last year, which is 40% more than in 2002. The bond portfolio grew by 14.8%, reaching 69.3 million kroons. The net loan portfolio has grown by 43.7% within a year, reaching 160.2 million kroons. The amount of group assets has increased up to 185 million kroons.
AS Balti Investeeringute Grupp is the largest specialised lender of money to private persons in the Baltic States after banks and leasing companies. The goal of the enterprise is to provide both private and business customers with fast, attentive and flexible financial services.
