Yesterday, on the 4th of November, AS Balti Investeeringute Grupp (BIG) and the Rapla Basketball Club non-profit association concluded a sponsorship contract, in accordance with which the basketball club will be called "BIG/new balance/RAPLA." This team is a newcomer in the champions league, having last season won the title that allows for competition at the highest level.

According to Targo Raus, Chairman of the Board of BIG, the decision to support this basketball club was made because the team is vigorous and promising. "We at the same time wish to support the development of basketball in Estonia outside the well-known basketball regions of Tallinn, Tartu and Rakvere," explained Raus.

Erik Horn, manager of the club, believes that the sponsorship contract concluded with BIG will improve the training conditions of the team and carry the club closer to its goal - to finish this champions league season in the top spot. "We have strong players and good results, and that is why we attract support," stated Horn.

The top five players of the team include Estonian stars Andre Pärn and Kaur Heinaru, as well as foreign players: Artis Stankevits, Mindaugas Mockus and Tomas Vanagas. The team's staff includes head coach Jüri Pritsin, coach Robert Raamat, physiotherapist Aavo Pruus and manager Erik Horn. The team's home court is at the Kohila Spordihoone.

BIG/new balance/RAPLA has started the new champions league season well - on the 30th of October the team defeated TTÿ A.Le Coq 94:90, and on the 3rd of November Pirita BM was vanquished 100:89.
