Charity dog show raises 23,000 kroons for shelter

The charity dog show held in Tallinn in the Kristiine Sports Hall last weekend, Match Show, saw Eesti Post and the Baltic Investment Group (BIG) help raise 23,000 kroons for the Pärnu Homeless Dog Shelter.

160 dogs competed in four categories at the exciting charity event, jointly organised by Eesti Post and BIG. Both well-known breeds and cross-breeds were represented. Organisers estimate that almost 600 people attended the show. Organising this charity show really achieved its goals we raised more money than we'd ever expected to, and the feedback from participants was very positive too, explained BIG marketing manager Svea-Elen Peters. The event attracted dyed-in-the-wool animal lovers and future philatelists alike, added Eesti Post sales director Marko Pokk.

Alongside the dog show, an exhibition was held of the joint stamp of the Estonian and Kazak Post Offices issued on 19 October, which also features dogs (the Estonian bloodhound and the Kazak wolfhound). A talk was also given about the background of the stamp's creation.
