The BIG Match Show charity dog exhibition held at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds on Sunday raised around 21,000 kroons for the Tartu homeless animal shelter, which plans to use the money to build running yards for the shelter's dogs.
A total of 120 pure-breed and half-breed dogs took part in the event. The overall winner of the show was a mixed breed dog called Ferry, owned by Kristiine Airenne.
The 20,875 kroons raised from participation feeds, ticket sales and visitor donations will be given by the organisers to the Tartu animal shelter this week.
The BIG Match Show is a charity dog exhibition whose aim is to draw people's attention to the problem of stray dogs and to collect money for the improvement of the conditions of homeless animals. The event was arranged by BIG in cooperation with Koertekoda and the Association of Estonian Dog Owners. It is BIG's wish to turn the large-scale charity dog show into an annual event.
