Charity dog show to raise money for homeless animals in Võru and Haapsalu

This Sunday, 14 October, the Kristiine Sports Hall in Tallinn will become the venue of the BIG Match Show, the largest charity dog show in Estonia, with all proceeds going to the homeless animal shelters in Võru and Haapsalu.

According to Taavi Esperk, Project Manager of this event, more than 150 dogs are expected to take part in the show. The BIG Match Show differs from other such events as it accepts all dogs - purebreds and pooches are equally welcome.

All proceeds from the event will be used to alleviate the life of homeless animals at the shelters in Haapsalu and Võru. "Working with the Association of Estonian Dog Owners, we have concluded that the shelters in Võru and Haapsalu are now in the worst state and in need of versatile assistance," noted Esperk.

The event this year includes not only the traditional dog show, but input from several pet merchandise and service providers as well. In the special kiosks they will share useful information and demonstrate various new goods. This is an event for the whole family and its youngest members will find plenty of fun activities. The spectators will certainly enjoy presentations of different dog breeds and a canine obstacle course competition. All those who purchase tickets and make donations will participate in a lucky drawing.

The event will begin at 11 o'clock on Sunday, 14 October. Tickets for adult spectators cost 25 kroons, while admission is free for children up to the age of 12 and pensioners. The fee of 75 kroons is collected on site for those wishing to participate in the dog show with their dog. Details about the dog show registration are available at www.big.ee and www.koeraomanikud.ee.

This is the third year that the charity BIG Match Show has been held. Last year the show visitors could watch 120 purebreds and pooches. The approximate sum of 21,000 kroons raised from participation fees, ticket sales and visitor donations was given by the organisers to the Tartu homeless animal shelter and used to build a new walking yard for the dogs.

The BIG Match Show is an annual charity dog show, the largest of its kind in Estonia, and its aim is to draw people's attention to the problem of stray dogs and possible solutions, as well as to collect money for the improvement of the conditions of homeless animal shelters across the country. The event is organised by Balti Investeeringute Grupi Pank (BIG Bank) in cooperation with the Association of Estonian Dog Owners.
