Charity dog show proceeds reach homeless animals

On Friday, December 7th, Balti Investeeringute Grupi Pank (BIG Bank) and the Association of Estonian Dog Owners handed over to the Haapsalu homeless animal shelter the proceeds from the BIG Match Show 2007 charity dog show and the shelter will use this money to improve the living conditions for its animals.

A total of 25,678 kroons in proceeds - participation fees, ticket sales and visitor donations - from the BIG Match Show held in October of this year in Tallinn has been divided equally between the Võru and Haapsalu homeless animal shelters. The Association of Estonian Dog Owners believes that those two shelters, in Võru and Haapsalu, are in the greatest need of support now.

The BIG Match Show is an annual charity dog show in its third year, the largest of its kind in Estonia, and its aim is to draw people's attention to the problem of stray dogs and possible solutions, as well as to collect money for the improvement of the conditions of homeless animal shelters across the country. A total of 155 purebred and half-bred dogs took part in the BIG Match Show this year. The overall winner of the show was a mixed breed dog called Murfi, owned by Andres Kadakas who had found this pet in a homeless animal shelter.

The event is organised by Balti Investeeringute Grupi Pank (BIG Bank) in cooperation with the Association of Estonian Dog Owners.
Next year (2008) the BIG Match Show will be held on the 18th of October in Tallinn at the Kristiine Sports Hall..
