BIGBANK joined the Fair Pricing Agreement created by the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the aim of ensuring just conversion of prices when Estonia switches to euro. BIGBANK's branches and electronic channels shall bear the official marking of the agreement "€ hinda ei tõsta (euro does not raise the price).
"By joining the voluntary agreement, BIGBANK promises its clients and partners that as a company with social responsibility we observe good practices and will not increase prices unjustifiably when switching to the euro" said the Chairman of the Management Board of BIGBANK, Targo Raus.
The marking of those who have joined the agreement - "€ hinda ei tõsta (euro does not raise the price) - found from the service halls and webpage of BIGBANK, gives the clients a confirmation that the prices of BIGBANK's services will not increase due to the conversion. The marking ensures that the prices of BIGBANK's services which have been converted are unambiguously understandable until the period of publishing prices in two currencies and that the employees of BIGBANK are competent in explaining matters regarding the changeover to the euro to clients.
Preparation of the test of the Fair Pricing Agreement included, among others, the Estonian Association of Travel Agents, Consumer Protection Board, Estonian Association of SMEs, Estonian Traders Association, Estonian Employers Confederation, Estonian Insurance Association, Estonian Banking Association, Estonian Hotel and Restaurant Association and also Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and Ministry of Finance. The compliance to the rules and justified usage of the marking by those who have joined the Fair Pricing Agreement will be checked by the Consumer Protection Board.
An fair pricing agreement has been used before changeover to euro also in Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ireland, Malta and Cyprus.
